Blog details

I find I don't like the way my blog looks but I'm not sure how I want it changed so I think I'll wait and get my daughter to help me out with it at a later date. I'd really like more color but when I tried to do it myself I'm not sure I liked the new colors any better than it is now! Just like a woman, always changing my mind. LOL

Finding my blog, food, reading

Boy, I sure had trouble finding my blog today. I goofed up royally when I wrote down the address for it and every time I tried to find it I kept getting the message that it couldn't be found. Luckily for me my daughter was nearby and knew how to find it and I was able to see what I had done wrong. I had been using the @ sign between the blog name and the rest of the address as though it was an email address! Talk about feeling dumb!

Breakfast this morning was a knockoff "Egg McMuffin" that used Black Forest Ham. Good but since we don't have a microwave DD heated it in the regular oven on a cast iron griddle. Oven was set at 400 oF but she didn't remember how long it was in for. Regular oven did a good job to my way of thinking. But it would be nice if more manufacturers put directions for using a regular oven as well as a microwave!

Later had a Godiva "French Vanilla Latte" to drink but I didn't think much of it. The cost was good, $1.48 for 9.5 oz. compared to $2.28 for the same size Starbuck's Frappuccino drink that I would ordinarily buy. It is doubtful that I would buy the Godiva drink again unless I'm really, really thirsty and don't have much money, hence the reason for buying it this morning! When I can afford to buy a 4 pack of the Starbuck's Frappuccino drinks I make them last by mixing them half and half with milk. To me they taste the same and I know it cuts the sugar content. Also, I usually use just 1% or at best 2% milk so that helps to make it a little better for me.

Another think I like are Lunchables. I've been eating the ones with a combination of chicken & turkey that have Swiss and Cheddar cheese, regular and wholegrain crackers, dijon mustard and an Andes mint. Would be nice if they would replace the cheddar cheese with mozzarella and the dijon mustard with honey mustard! I'd also like to see all the crackers whole grain. To my way of thinking more adults would buy Lunchables to take to work if they made them a little more adult friendly. I do realize that these are designed for kids but for heavens sake why not change them a little and market them to adults as an alternative to the sandwich many of them carry for lunch!

Yesterday I checked out four romances to read since I had finished all the books I had at home! I usually take my time but with the help of my daughter on one side of the aisle and me on the other it went a lot quicker. Right now I'm reading "Hardly A Husband" by Rebecca Hagan Lee. It's part of a series of books about a group of men in the Regency period in English history who called themselves the "Free Fellows League". I've enjoyed the others I've read and so far this one is interesting.
I find that if I can't get into a book in the first 10 or so pages I won't enjoy reading it. In fact I've got one at home that I read about twice that far in and still couldn't get interested in the story.
A couple of my favorite authors are Jo Beverly and Mary Jo Putney. I've read many, many books by the both of them and really enjoy them.

First Blog

Well I'm finally entering the twenty-first century and becoming more internet savy, or so I hope.
I'm still somewhat lost around a computer but the more I use one the easier it becomes. So far about all I've done is send and receive email, check out a few magazine websites, and do some searching for things that interest me.
After hearing about and reading about blogging I decided this was something I wanted to do so I set up a blog today and am posting to it for the first time. I'll post the address on a couple of forums I'm a member of to see if anyone will actually read what I write.
First off, this is Friday March 28, 2008. I'm in San Antonio, TX, using a terminal at the central library. I probably won't post more often than weekly or maybe twice on weekends since I don't have home internet access.
I live with my daughter and her 3 daughters and we seem to be getting along pretty well for the difference in ages. Every once in a while I take one of the two older girls and we go somewhere alone. I try to treat them to lunch at a local Bar-B-Q chain since it's pretty reasonably priced and we can share something.
Had to leave home for a while today because we had an exterminator come in. It's something I hope to be able to afford on a semi-regular basis in the future. The stuff we can buy in the store just isn't strong enough to actually kill anything!
Will make sure I get to church on Sunday as we're having two baby boys baptised! Yeah!!
Please feel free to post any comments, positive or negative, and remember, I'm still learning.
